What is rope?
As the name suggests, rope is a type of cord. It is made from polypropylene, a synthetic fibre that is cut into strands and then braided. This gives it a look that closely resembles natural rope.
In recent years, rope has become increasingly popular in garden furniture. Most often, rope is used for the seat and/or backrest and is combined with another material such as aluminium or (teak) wood. To prevent the rope from stretching and sagging over time, it is pre-stretched to the maximum during the production process. This ensures it retains its shape and results in a durable piece of outdoor furniture that remains beautiful for years.
Is rope sustainable?
Rope is a strong and durable material. With normal use, it lasts for many years. Rope is made from polypropylene, a synthetic fibre resistant to various weather elements. Polypropylene is often produced using recycled materials, which helps minimise its environmental impact.
Is rope suitable for outdoor use?
Rope is highly suitable for outdoor use. It has excellent UV resistance and water-repellent properties, meaning it hardly discolours over time and can withstand rain without issue.

How do you maintain rope patio furniture?
Rope outdoor furniture is easy to maintain. We recommend cleaning the rope a few times a year, particularly when it has become dirty. This is best done using a solution of lukewarm water and mild soap. Use a soft brush or lint-free cloth to avoid damaging the material.
Is the rope heavily soiled? Spray the area with a fabric cleaner. This cleans deep into the fibres, making it easy to remove even the most stubborn stains. After cleaning, treat your rope furniture with a fabric protector to help guard against the effects of the weather.
